Calendars

Calendar

Digital or paper, this is where you will record appointments, tasks, or deadlines that have to be done on a specific date or at a specific time.

Examples:

  • Appointments (meetings, doctor visits, classes, interviews, etc.)
  • Reminders for reference (vacation dates, birthdays, due dates)
  • Blocks of time for in-depth project work that would otherwise be procrastinated

Calendar Layers

Many digital calendars have the option to create multiple “layers” or additional calendars that can be turned on or off depending upon what you want to see. You could have layers for other family members, reminders, work events, etc. You’ll want to search online for instructions on how to set this up in your preferred digital calendar. If doing this on paper, you could choose to use different colors for each “layer” of your calendar.

Calendar Reminder (or Calendar Trigger)

This is a simple note, question, or task you add to your calendar, instead of keeping the idea in your head. For example, next Friday at 10 am, you could schedule a reminder to ask, “Did my office supplies arrive in the mail?” Or next April, you could create a calendar reminder that says, “Does the family have the bandwidth to do a vacation in August?” Calendar reminders, sometimes called calendar triggers, are simply there to ensure that you don’t forget to think about or do something in the future.
